Palethorpes business produces chilled savoury rolls, savoury hot pies, pasties and slices. The business has been producing products in this category since 1852 and innovation is high on its agenda. Palethorpes has a strong culture of consumer insight. This is underpinned by in-depth food knowledge, with dedicated on-site development chefs working on new products that are driven by food values and quality.

In the last 18 months, the business has invested £2 million to develop a unique chef-inspired cooking method, which produces consistently succulent meat. This is the first use of this technique in the market and has enabled Palethorpes to grow its market presence by winning substantial new business. Using the new technique, Palethorpes has developed several award-winning varieties of hot water short crust pastry pies.

POSITION:             Formulation Operative – Bowl Chopper Operator

DEPARTMENT:      Formulation

GRADE:                  Grade 1  - £9.56 per hour

SHIFT:                    Days 4 on 4 off - B Shift

HOURS/ DAYS:       06:00am – 18:00pm

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

SKILLS REQUIRED:

The successful applicant will need to perform the following tasks:

 

  • Inspection of machine parts prior to setting up and to complete relevant Pre Start check sheets
  • Understanding of various materials, which will include Allergens, (dairy, fish and mustard)
  • Be able to work with process recipe and various other process control sheets
  • Understanding of Health and Safety in and around the Formulation areas
  • Able to communicate any issues, defects to management

  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be safety conscious
  • Good time keeping

 

Desirable:

  • Lawson skills
  • Formulation work experience
