Dorset Foods is focused on the savoury egg and cooked cocktail sausage categories and has its own specialist manufacturing facility and development team.

The business strategy is strongly focused on innovation and reinventing the Scotch egg category. Most recently, this has resulted in the ability to maintain a runny centre in a warm-serve, cooked egg product, which has initially been brought to market by M&S.

Dorset Foods is home to the recently developed Scrummy Egg brand, which will encompass a family of products that are based on this unique ability to produce a runny or soft-set-centred boiled egg that maintains this quality even when re-heated.

The business supplies Scotch egg products into Asda, M&S, Tesco, Morrisons and the convenience channel.


The Job

The succesful candidates primary responsibilities for this role will be to manage the inventory control system, maintain product data, rectify miscalculations, report findings to management and send out daily report highlighting any issues or products at risk. In addition to reconciling stocks it is the Recon operative’s responsibility to report factory driven data such as waste, giveaway and rejects. Key accoutablities for the role include: 

Stock take of the entire factory daily, and all ancillary areas during a working week

Review and apply inventory activities, including movements and deletions (stock adjustments, confirmations and de-confirmations.

Maintain and update inventory records

Identify and report trends in material variances to the day shift team for investigation if required.

Report any stock issues to management – including labelling, out of rotation or out of life.

Prepare a list of products at risk due to short shelf life – and communicate to day shift.

Usage of the Recon Data file. This includes inputting of factory paperwork data to identify trends and actions for improving factory performance.

To input factory data to deliver key business KPI’s – such as waste, giveaway, rejects etc.
















The Ideal Candidate

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues of all levels
  • Able to work as part of a team or individually without constant supervision  
  • Numerate and able to deal with material variants
  • Flexible and adaptable approach with problem solving skills
  • Lawson M3 Key user- desired, training will be given
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet appropriate deadlines
  • High attention to detail

Hours and Entitlements

Hours - 36.65 hours per week. 10pm - 6am. Monday - Friday 

Break - 40 Minutes 

Hourly rate - £11.69
