Salary: £13.50


Dorset Foods is focused on the savoury egg and cooked cocktail sausage categories and has its own specialist manufacturing facility and development team.

The business strategy is strongly focused on innovation and reinventing the Scotch egg category. Most recently, this has resulted in the ability to maintain a runny centre in a warm-serve, cooked egg product, which has initially been brought to market by M&S.

Dorset Foods is home to the recently developed Scrummy Egg brand, which will encompass a family of products that are based on this unique ability to produce a runny or soft-set-centred boiled egg that maintains this quality even when re-heated.

The business supplies Scotch egg products into Asda, M&S, Tesco, Morrisons and the convenience channel.

 

The Role

  • To assume full responsibility for Areas of manufacture and packing which has been assigned to you.
  • To develop and lead the team through all aspects of GMP. To promote a positive Health & Safety culture in all areas.  To ensure product integrity and safety by supporting quality management by ensuring high standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality is delivered at all times.
  • Deliver all expected KPIs and manage people and resources effectively.
 

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Actively reduce the waste within the Area identifying any potential savings with management team.
  •  
    Effectively Manage the labour resource to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Holidays and absence are controlled as per business agreements.
  • Daily and weekly variances are achieved.
  • Ensure that at risk stock is properly rotated and controlled with £0 Variance on OOC
  • Manage the use by and stock rotation within the prep and manufacturing area
  • Ensure compliance with company and customer standards through education of all team members.
  • ‘Right first time’ attitude to be departmental culture led by Supervisor  and the LPL’s.
  • Monitor standards to meet customer expectations.
  • Ensure all product specification sheets are adhered to and all quality and technical documentation is completed in real time.
  • Ensure all areas conform to business expectations of GMP.
  • Involvement of QA to audit all areas regularly.
  • Ensure daily reviews are effective.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are adhered to across Area.
  • Development planning for  LPL’s & colleagues
  • Encourage a culture of inclusion.
  • To actively promote a positive H&S culture within the physical areas of control.
  • Ensure accident investigations are carried out in the correct detail and that all corrective actions are complete, with support from shift manager.
  • Identify all training requirements for the area against the training matrix.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Training plan
  • Start-up plant
  • Plan attainment to be driven by Area supervisor &  LPL’s.
  • Action improvements in achieving better start ups with team and shift manager.

Holiday Entitlement - 33 days holiday / 242 hours per annum.Bank Holidays are normal working days. The only exception is Christmas Day and New Years’ day when the business is closed.

Hours - 36.65 hours per week (8 hour per working shift)

Break - 40 minutes break  per day

Shift Pattern - 5:30 - 14:00 and 13:30 - 22:00 on a weekly rotating basis
