Process Development Administrator

Job Purpose:

To support the delivery of NPD and Continuous Improvement agenda, in-line with the Compleat Food Group and customer category plans. Ensuring all process development information is delivered to agreed timescales, in-line with both Addo and customer requirements.

Effective delivery of the NPD / EPD process from kitchen handover to launch in line with customer category plans and Addo agenda as directed by the Development Controller. 


  • Delivery of the NPD agenda to required cost and within agreed timescales. 
  • Responsible for all stages of critical path of projects. Understand implications and effects of deviations from critical path. Highlight to Manager with solutions.   



Process trials – Post kitchen handover
  • Support handover meetings with Process Technologist for relevant site teams to communicate NPD &/or EPD. 
  • Organise process trial paperwork and send out relevant information to the bakery teams.
  • Organise and support the ordering of new ingredients / packaging for trials and assess on arrival.
  • Liaise with engineering where required for new kit or where amends may be required. 
  • Support production trials where required in line with site standards.
  • Attend relevant meetings, to communicate relevant information regarding trials / process improvement. 
  • Gather relevant information from trials including: - run rates, weights, settings, labour, washouts, data logging etc. and assess outputs against agreed standards.
  • Work closely with production and planning to determine optimum batch sizes / volumes.
  • Organise product and book testing for shelf life and nutritional analysis from factory trials; liaising with technical department for full sign off. 
  • Complete re-heat validation &/or arrange relevant testing against customer code of practice. 
  • Highlight any amends from product at handover to appropriate persons for re-costing and paperwork amends.
  • Support in sending samples out for customer requests.
  • Support Process/Development Manager for product approval with customer. 


  • Work to Development documents and procedures.
  • Lead the writing of factory specifications.
  • Attend HACCP meetings where required ensuring new raw materials are approved prior to arrival at site/trials commencing. 
  • Complete relevant documentation including process flow and site specific food safety documents, such as SUSSLE. 
  • Complete trial reports, distribute these accordingly and identify actions prior to next trials. 
  • Complete paperwork for data gathered at trials and distribute accordingly. 
  • Complete nutritional comparisons and review against customer standards and policies with relevant personal to approve these. 
  • Complete microbiological standards and review against customer standards and policies with relevant personal to approve these. 
  • Complete organoleptic of products, share results across relevant departments.
  • Complete freeze approval documents, share results across relevant departments.
  • Conduct reheats and relevant paperwork.
  • Gather information for document control approval. 
  • Ensure electronic and paper copies of products are organised and complete alongside relevant checklist in line with site standards. Initiate these being signed off by management to audit standard. 
 Manage launch into factory
  • Support PPR meeting and running of the trial with relevant paperwork required to ensure product and factory are launch ready.
  • Support launch meetings and paperwork and ensure all relevant paperwork is complete. 
  • Efficient hand over of product information and paperwork at preproduction to Technical, Production teams & all departments.
  • Arrange & support in collection and sorting of production samples to go to customers in line within relevant codes of practice. 
  • Review product information once launched and follow up any process/ ingredient changes/issues.
Support of development team from concept to launch
  • Attend feasibility meetings and support new product development from kitchen.
  • Support writing of customer specification as and when required: - Evolve / FIND / HIVE / Connect, etc
  • Involvement in the writing and presentation of appropriate customer presentation material.
  • Support Specification Technologist/Manager with artwork sign off.
  • Support NPD Managers/ Specification Technologist/Manager with any writing of any relevant documentation. 
  • Organise and arrange products for customers when required. 
  • Support other sites as and when required.
To understand and drive proactive process development initiatives which push production boundaries
  • Work with team to provide solutions to solve manufacturing problems on new & existing lines.
  • Support continuous improvements and hlep identify cost savings in reducing production costs / new ideas and ingredient potential to maximise cost savings and efficiency to business.
  • Value engineering of ingredients / packaging / processes. 
  • Liaise with suppliers to provide process and ingredient improvement.
Communication & Team working
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with various teams as required by manager / projects
  • Organise, and attend as necessary project meetings and panels.
  • Appropriate communication (written and verbal) to teams and team members.
  • To work as part of a team and not by customer head. Projects may be split so working on multi-customers. 
  • To work alongside development technologists and chefs and be flexible in roles where required across the team. 
Promote Health and Safety Culture
  • Follow all H&S requirements during kitchen and process development work.
  • Promote safe working across site and advice immediately on unsafe work practices.
  • May be required to carry out projects within the Addo Food Group which may require time spent at other sites. 
  • General office duties
  • Support the organising of customer visits.
  • Continually keep ahead on innovation and the market - communicate with the team. 
  • Support benchmarking panels
  • May be required to support development chefs in the kitchen as and when required. 
  • Support the removal of trial material from factory.
  • Due to the nature of the role you may be required to cover weekends and night shifts.
